Francis Patrick McGinniss, proud veteran

Francis Patrick "Frankie," "Nature Boy," "MAC," "Big Daddy" McGinniss, 70, of Milton passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at his home, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  He was born Jan. 22, 1951, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Francis and Eileen McGinniss.

A proud veteran, Mr. McGinniss served active duty in the U.S. Air Force and with the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He built a career in the utilities industry as a controlman, retiring from Washington Gas Light Company in Hyattsville, Md. Following his retirement, he concentrated on his business, Frank’s A/C and Heating. Mr. McGinniss married the love of his life, Evelyn Riguelme, at St. Catherine Church, Silver Spring, Md., in 1973. Together, they raised a beautiful family, of which he was immensely proud. Mr. McGinniss was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Emerald Society, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the beach, dancing, and music. Above all, Mr. McGinniss cherished time spent with those he held most dear, especially his grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. McGinniss was preceded in death by his brother, Michael McGinniss; his sister, Kathy McGinniss; and his nephews: Richard Riguelme and Anthony Riguelme.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Evelyn Rita McGinniss; his daughters:  Kelly Long (Brad) and Karlie Class (Ryan); his grandchildren: Martina Pistole, Delaney Long, Madelyn Class, McKenna Class, Gabriella Class and Harper Class; his brother, John McGinniss; his nephews: Patrick McGinniss, Jason McGinniss, and Jimmy Ruane; his nieces: Christina Ittenbach, Lea Ittenbach, Taylor Ruane and Elizabeth Ruane; and his many cousins.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no in-person service.  All are invited to join a livestream memorial service Wednesday, March 17, at 11 a.m., by visiting https://webcasts.lifetributes.com/1123936.

Mr. McGinniss will be laid to rest at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. McGinniss’ memory to the Parkinson’s Education and Support Group of Sussex County, PO Box 56, Lewes, DE  19958.
