Freda M. Lentz, state parks retiree

Freda M. Lentz, 79, of Millsboro, formerly of South Harrison Township, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Freda was born in Sayre, Pa., Oct. 14, 1939, daughter of the late James and Bernita Boughton.  She began her working career at A&P as a cashier, retiring after 20 years of service.  Freda then went to work with her husband in their trophy shop. After moving to Delaware 17 years ago, she worked in a seasonal position with Delaware Seashore State Parks for 15 years.  

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids. Freda loved playing bingo, playing cards with her grandchildren, going out to eat at the local restaurants with her husband, and she was also a great dancer in her younger years.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two children, James Fox and Victoria Clendenen; a brother, James Boughton; and two sisters, Marjorie Witkowski and Wanda Benstead.  She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Vincent D. Lentz Jr.; five grandchildren, Chris Clendenen, Rebecca Westbrook, Kendra Sawyer, Jenna Fox and Travis Fox; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Roach, Callen Sawyer, Zachary Smith and Brooklyn Smith; and a brother, James Camp.  Freda is also survived by two stepsons, Vincent D. Lentz III and Scott Lentz; five stepgrandchildren, Drew Lentz, Dana Lentz, Kayla Bartholomew, Amanda Carr and Jacob Lentz; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Morgan Lentz, Roman Angellotti, Alex Miser, Kaylinda Bartholomew, Amya Carr and Chris Carr; and several nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Freda’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may visit after 4 p.m.  Interment will be private.
