Frederick ‘Rick’ Sabin III, financial manager
Frederick "Rick" Sabin III, 73, of Ocean View, formerly of West Chester, Pa., passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes. He was born in Washington, D.C., Sept. 17, 1944, son of the late Frederick Sabin II and Charlotte (Koughan) Sabin.
Rick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Rick graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., with both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, while raising his family.
He retired in 2000 from Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceutical Company in Upper Merion, Pa., as their financial manager with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association for 35 years. After retiring and moving to Ocean View in 2000, he enjoyed boating and taking long walks with his wife, Chris. Rick also enjoyed going out to dinner and completing crossword puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Sabin. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Christina "Chris" F. (Doyle) Sabin; six children, Jennifer Doyle of Harleysville, Pa., Christine Shawver and her husband Ronald of Havertown, Pa., Carolyn Menuchi and her husband Richard of Hingham, Mass., Michael Sabin and his wife Christina of Coatesville, Pa., David Sabin and his wife Danielle of Limerick, Pa., and Richard Sabin and his wife Lisa of Ocean View; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, Martin Sabin and his wife Deborah of Havertown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Pkwy., Bethany Beach, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24, at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken, Pa.
