Free financial education classes set Sept. 17-18

A free class titled Couples and Money will be offered to the public from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17 at Lewes Public Library. This class will include how to navigate the construction of a couple’s financial house as a partnership. Topics include how to protect the family, manage debt in the most financially advantageous way, manage credit and plan for the ultimate vacation of retirement. This will be an informational session with an opportunity to ask questions.

This class focuses on steps couples can take to avoid common financial mistakes and navigate the path to both partners understanding their finances. This class is designed to help couples navigate the what-ifs. Upon completion, participants will be equipped to make better financial decisions in the context of their family finances.

A free class titled Saving for Your Children’s Education will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Rehoboth Beach Public Library. Topics to be discussed include financial aid, college savings plans, and the pitfalls of not knowing all the options. This will be an informational session with an opportunity to ask questions.

This class focuses on steps people can take to avoid common mistakes when saving for their children’s education. Everyone should be aware of these mistakes and be able to consult with their financial advisor on a plan for their future to correct them. Upon completion, participants will be equipped to make better financial decisions on how to pay for educational expenses.

Sponsor Delaware Money School provides experienced instructor Diane Heydt for both of these classes. Having written, spoken and taught on these subjects for many years, she breaks them down to understandable layman's terms.
