Friends of Sussex CASA fundraiser a success

March 28, 2020

The Friends of Sussex CASA  Inc. held a princess tea fundraiser at St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Rehoboth Feb. 29, to support children experiencing foster care in Sussex County who have a CASA volunteer.

Court Appointed Special Advocates are voices for Delaware’s abused and neglected children.

The funds raised will support the unmet needs of the Sussex County CASA children. The friends group provides financial support to allow these children to enjoy a more typical childhood. It has provided funds for musical instruments, sports camps and equipment, educational technology, uniforms, CASA training and other necessities.

Organizers extend thanks to community princesses for attending the event; Ann Southard, who provided face-painting services; Cape Henlopen High School National Honor Society and Leo Club members who provided teenage princesses to visit the attendees; and princesses from another nonprofit group, Pursuit for Peace, who posed for photos with the attendees; St. Edmond Catholic Church which donated the use of its facilities for the event; and Sandy Soucek of Capturing Your Bliss Photography, who took pictures.

Organizers also thank the CASA volunteers who provided snacks and came to supervise, with a special acknowledgement to Lauren Brueckner, Office of the Child Advocate - CASA training director.
