Gallery One will host a reception open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, June 20, to celebrate its 21st anniversary and feature works by two of its newest artists, John Schisler and Donna Brumbergs.

Brumbergs is an impressionistic oil painter based in Frankford whose work is rooted in direct observation of both natural and man-made environments. She views plein air painting as essential to technical development and artistic growth, and as a critical foundation for her studio practice. A graduate of Paier College of Art, Brumbergs' academic training established a strong foundation in representational painting, composition and design, and these principles continue to shape her approach to oil painting. She began plein air painting in 2016 after joining The Chestnut Group in Nashville, Tenn., an organization of more than 200 plein air painters dedicated to preserving the region’s natural and historic landscapes.

Schisler’s style is classical/contemporary realism. He studied the techniques of the Dutch Masters, utilizing “black oil” which is the basis for the mediums of many of the masters. His professional affiliations include Oil Painters of America, National Oil & Acrylic Painters' Society (signature member) and the International Guild of Realism. He has been featured in many publications, including American Art Collector.
