Gallery One has made arrangements for a bus trip to the Smithsonian Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, May 22.

Both galleries are part of the Smithsonian Institution and are housed in the same historic Greek revival building in the heart of Washington. The trip includes a private guided tour of the highlights of the art museum, which houses the world’s largest and most inclusive collection of American art.

Following the tour, participants will have ample opportunity to view the museum’s full collection and to visit the adjoining National Portrait Gallery. Congress founded this gallery with the mission to acquire and display portraits of men and women who have made significant contributions to the history, development and culture of the United States. The Obama portraits were recently added to the gallery’s presidential and first lady collections.

Travel to and from the museums will be in a deluxe touring bus with amenities for travel comfort. Snacks and water will be provided. The approximate time of departure will be 8 a.m., returning 10 hours later. There will be two pickup/drop-off sites, one in the Ocean View/Bethany area and the other in the Lewes/Rehoboth area.

The cost of the trip is $50, due with reservation. Space is limited. For more information or to make a reservation, call 302-537-5055 or go to www.galleryonede.com.
