Imagine That is the theme for Gallery One’s exhibit opening Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 32 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View.

Celebrating curiosity, creativity and the limitless nature of imagination, the artists challenge familiar perspectives and encourage visitors to see the everyday in unexpected ways.

Several artists chose to use older houses as the inspiration for their paintings. In her pastel, “Burton Cottages,” Dale Sheldon depicts Rehoboth Beach’s Shaw Park (now Grove Park), which contained trailers and little cottages in the early part of the 20th century. 

"Drexler Cottage," built in Bethany Beach in the early 1900s, is shown in a pastel by Laura Hickman, who imagines what it would be like to have lived in it when it was new.

Nature is the platform used by Cindy Beyer in her watercolor “Bloom Boom," where she leaves it to the viewers' imagination to determine what kind of flowers she has painted.

In her acrylic painting, “Flamingo Dancers,” Joyce Condry imagines flamingos, with their long legs and graceful necks, as ballerinas.

Several years ago, Lesley McCaskill planted a garden after her granddaughter Lily was born. The lilies multiplied and dragonflies flocked to the garden, depicted in her acrylic painting, “Summer Garden.”

Eileen Olson said when she paints her abstracts, they are all imagined in her head, as shown in her acrylic piece, “Imagine.”

In her oil painting, “Softies,” Donna Brumbergs depicts her granddaughter’s beloved stuffed animals.

The show continues through Tuesday, Sept. 29.
