Gallo Gives Foundation scholarship applications due April 30
It its fourth year of existence, the Gallo Gives Foundation will award two deserving seniors with $2,500 scholarships.
Each year, a portion of the foundation’s funds is set aside for scholarships. One will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted into a bachelor of business program. The second scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has been accepted into a bachelor’s program for environmental sciences.
Students must be attending a college or university in fall 2019. Those applying must be graduating seniors from Sussex Academy, Cape Henlopen, Sussex Technical, Sussex Central or Indian River high schools.
This competitive scholarship may be given directly to the college or university where the student will attend or given directly to the student. Gallo Gives Foundation members will choose the recipient based on certain criteria, which include grade point average, community service, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters and a detailed essay.
Gallo Gives student scholarship applications are now being accepted, and the deadline is Tuesday, April 30. For more information, see school guidance counselors. All eligible students must return applications and accompanying materials to their school guidance counselors by the April 30 deadline.
The Gallo Gives Foundation is funded through the company’s agents, management and owners. Agents are encouraged to donate a percentage of their commissions earned, and the firm matches all agent/staff contributions 100 percent. Public donations aree accepted as well. Each Gallo Realty office, in Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach, is represented by individuals who serve on the foundation’s giving committee. The committee researches community charities in need and recommends funding.
