Gardeners invited to join a growing community in Lewes

June 5, 2019

The Lewes Community Garden is starting to take shape. On May 29, a portion of the nearly one-acre plot near the Lewes Unleashed Dog Park on Park Avenue was tilled in preparation for a garden bed build day from 8:30 a.m.to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9.  All interested potential gardeners of all capabilities and resources are invited to join the Lewes Community Gardeners as they build 20 four-by-eight-foot beds with two reserved for community projects. The cost is $75 for the year with an optional one-year extension.

Plants have been donated by the Cape Henlopen High School Horticulture Plant Science program in conjunction with the Cape Future Farmers of America program. Thanks go to the students and their instructor, Dr. Pete Olsen.
