Gaylord Allen Capes, retired statistician

Gaylord Allen Capes, 87, of Centreville, Md., passed away peacefully Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., son of the late Elva Staggers.

Mr. Capes worked for the federal government as a statistician for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and baseball games, working on his computer and going to the beach. Mr. Capes was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Capes is preceded in death by his two sons, Richard James Capes and Stephen Patrick Capes; and a grandson, Douglas Andrew Halloran. He is survived by his four children: Collin Matthew Capes and his wife Marlaina, Kathleen Gay Mitchell and her husband Donald, Erin Elizabeth Capes and Grant Edward Capes; his grandchildren: Jacqueline Elizabeth Lusk and her husband Randall, Brian Patrick Capes and his wife Tiffany, Adrienne Michelle Holley and her husband Jason, Patricia Joan Halloran, Kyle Matthew Capes, Megan Liane Capes, Molly Kristen Fuselier and her husband Mitchell, Bradley James Mitchell and Sky Amethyst Capes; and his great-grandchildren, Olivia Jean Holley and Lowen Arthur Andrew Lusk.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
