George ‘Danny’ Daniels Jr., family patriarch
George “Danny” Daniels Jr., 77, passed away in the presence of loving family at The Moorings in Lewes Saturday, March 16, 2019. He was born Jan. 27, 1942, to the late George H. Sr. and Mary Daniels of Wilmington.
Danny was a graduate of Salesianum High School and went on to become a 50-plus-year union pipefitter through Local 74 of Wilmington. In the 1960s Danny made his home in Rehoboth Beach and went on to establish a lifelong residency in Sussex County. Affectionately known as “The Boss,” Danny was an avid trapshooter, member of the Broadkiln Sportsman’s Club, and a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a very talented mechanic and, most importantly, a devoted family man. As the patriarch of the Daniels family, Danny was the oldest of five children and found his place in leading his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed building and working with his hands, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to the Outer Banks.
Danny is survived by his loving partner, Beverly Troiani of Lewes; beloved nephew Chuck Litchford of Rehoboth, who was like a son to Danny; siblings Veronica Daniels of Lewes, Carl Daniels and his wife Carol of The Woodlands, Texas, and Patricia Litchford and her husband Charles of Wilmington; and beloved nieces and nephews, Allen Aune of Camarillo, Calif., Courtney Daniels of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Kristin Dotti of Ashville, N.C., and Christopher Litchford of Wilmington.
Danny was predeceased by two cherished family members, his sister, Claire Daniels of Wilmington and nephew Chad Litchford of Wilmington.
Friends may call Thursday, March 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 King’s Highway, Lewes. Friends may also call at the funeral home Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Service following at 11 a.m. Interment will follow services at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.
