George Cole era comes to an end

Sussex County Councilman George Cole, R-Ocean View, has cast his last vote. After 32 years in office, the Ocean View Republican attended his final meeting Dec. 11.

As the longest serving elected official in county history, Cole took over the seat in 1986 from his mother, Kitty, who filled the remaining term of her husband, Charlie, who passed away while in office.
