George A. Esham, retired lead mechanic

Mr. George A. Esham, 77, of Millsboro passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.  

Mr. Esham was born in Parsonsburg, Md., to the late Russell W. and Marjorie Hutchinson Esham.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his spoiled canine companion “Ruby” whom he adored.

He retired from Delmarva Power & Light where he worked as a lead mechanic for 31 years. George was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.  He was member of American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro,  and also the Hunting Club.  He enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to country music, cutting grass and tending to his garden. George was known to be  ornery at times, funny and playful, and loved to banter back and forth with those he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Pauline Mitchell Esham of Millsboro; a son, Tim Esham and his wife Susan of Millsboro; stepdaughters, Sharon Kay Bunting and her husband Dean of Frankford, and Pamela Schoones of Milton; and a stepson, Russell Moore of Dover.  He had one sister, Bonnie Goetz of Shaft Ox Corner.  He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Kayla Peterman, Kelsey Esham, Mark Moore, Sean Moore and Justin Faulkner, Elvis Price and Shannon Price; as well as three great-grandchildren.  

A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. for visitation.  Pastor Eddie Daniels will conduct the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963, or the Gumboro Community Center, c/o Ronnie Davis, 23275 Bethel Road, Frankford, DE  19945.
