He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine and was activated for wartime service in World War II.  His ship survived a torpedo attack. He was a master mechanic, expert landscaper and loved gardening.  He was known as a real “Mr. Fixit” and liked to collect antiques. He was a very frugal and detail-oriented man ensuring that everything was done right.  He arose from a humble beginning to become a success in life.

He is survived by four children: George H. Weller (Kate Dostey) of Jackson, N.J., Helena Weller (Robert Dochney) of Phillipsburg, N.J., Sherry Mosley (David) of Jackson, N.J., and Douglas Weller (Leatta) of Azle, Texas.  George also leaves behind six grandchildren: Kaitlin Mosley (Tobias Canfield), Lucas Mosley, Samantha Mosley (Glenn Kleimish), Wendy Mosley, Candace Mosley and Corinne Dochney (Paul Zipple) as well as two great-grandchildren, Wynn and August Canfield.   He is also survived by a wonderful friend and neighbor, Ginny Heier, as well as extended family members and friends.

In recognition of his wartime service with the Merchant Marine, military honors will be conferred at his interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Due to the coronavirus restrictions, attendance is extremely limited and will be held privately, with social distancing and masks required.  The Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the Roxana CHEER Meals on Wheels, 34314 Pyle Center Road, Frankford, DE 19945 or the Millsboro Fire Co., PO Box 83, Millsboro, DE 1996.
