A Georgetown man faces his seventh driving under the influence charge after police pulled him over in Georgetown Oct. 31.
Heriberto Acebedo, 45, was driving on North Street when police pulled him over for a mechanical violation, said Detective Joey Melvin of the Georgetown Police Department.
Melvin said Acebedo appeared to be intoxicated and showed multiple signs of impairment; police discovered Acebedo had six previous DUI convictions. A 12-year-old juvenile was a passenger in the vehicle, Melvin said, and two other children, ages 10 and 2, had been left alone at Acebedo’s residence.
Acebedo was charged with felony seventh-offense DUI, driving without a license, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution due to his intoxicated state, on unspecified bond.
