Geraldine E. Cassidy, inspiration to all

Geraldine E. Cassidy, 84, of Rehoboth passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, surrounded by her family and friends. Gerri, as she was known, was an inspiration to anyone she met; her passion and selfless drive for helping others was always apparent in her loving smile and determined will.

Gerri received her Masters Certification in Addictions Counseling both at the state and national levels. She was the executive director and founder of “The Promises” and “Steppingstones,” both intensive outpatient treatment centers operating in upstate and downstate Delaware for many years.  Later, she devoted her time at Kent-Sussex Industries Inc in Milford and CHEER centers throughout Sussex, always giving of herself up until her death.  She will be missed dearly.

Geraldine is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Frank Cassidy; sons:  George Lagerence (Dawn), Steven Lagerence (Terri), and Brian Lagerence (Lisa); daughters, Mary Maseroni, Karen Stover (Ed), and Lisa Lietzke (Rich); 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held followed by a service in celebration of Geraldine’s life at Clayton Firehall, 300 East St., Clayton,Friday, Oct. 22, from 3 to 7 p.m.
