Getting used to cars blocking intersections

October 11, 2019

A new phenomenon is appearing on our local roadways. This particular behavior may be indigenous to the intersection of Route 24 and Route 1 in the summer.

I experienced it on three different days last week. I call it, “Green Light Block.”  It happens when you are sitting at the light heading east on Route 24 and your light turns green. Sadly, the cars heading south on Route 1 have jammed the intersection and you are unable to move. On one day, I sat through two consecutive green lights before being able to maneuver my way through the intersection.

I’m not sure about a solution to this matter. Perhaps it is to build more developments and houses in our area so we may experience it 12 months a year.
