Gillis Gilkerson redevelops former Fisher’s Appliances building in Milford

March 9, 2019

Gillis Gilkerson has announced that the former Fisher’s Appliances building in the heart of downtown Milford will become the new home of the Insurance Market.

For more than 100 years, the Insurance Market has been a trusted advisor managing risk for personal, business, and life and health clients. From Laurel, Seaford, Milford, Dover, Delmar and Georgetown, to Salisbury, Md., the Insurance Market serves the entire Delmarva Peninsula.

The 13,200-square-foot structure on Front Street was in need of a facelift and was converted to a class A office building. The Insurance Market will occupy the majority of the building, with about 5,500 square feet left available for lease.

“We were looking for an office in Milford that could properly reflect our brand, but the limited inventory of existing office real estate in downtown Milford caused our initial searches to come up empty. We knew we needed to have a stronger presence in Milford, and we knew that the Gillis Gilkerson team would be able to provide us with the creative solution we needed,” said Stephen Hartstein, CIC, partner of the Insurance Market.

This project is the recipient of a Downtown Development District grant through the State of Delaware, as it has been deemed a catalyst for other redevelopment activity and contributes to superior urban design standards.
