For the fifth year, the Village Improvement Association held its holiday gift-giving event, co-chaired this year by Carolyn Billingsley and Mary Jane Deets.
VIA members raised almost $2,800 for Cape Henlopen School District students who are in foster care or displaced, and for residents of Renaissance Healthcare Facility. Due to pandemic restrictions, club members were not able to purchase individual gifts, so this year, the members donated money for gift cards for 19 students and 12 senior residents. The cards were creatively packaged and delivered to the high school and Renaissance Healthcare.
The VIA is a member of the Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
