Gordon Lee Hawthorne, 76, passed away peacefully Friday, July 3, 2026. Born in Munich, Germany, July 11, 1949, he was the eldest son of the late Arthur W. Hawthorne Sr. and Bonnie Gregory Hawthorne.

Professionally, he was both a talented musician and certified arborist, bringing dedication and skill to each of his passions. He was an accomplished bass guitarist whose love of jazz music was a constant throughout his life. Whether performing, listening to his favorite artists, or spending quiet moments with a good book, he found joy in music and reading.

Gordon is survived by his son, Brian Hawthorne; his daughters, Kendra Hawthorne and Katherine Moore (Derek Moore); his grandchildren, Maren Moore and Maddox Moore; his brother, Arthur W. Hawthorne Jr. (Marguerite Hawthorne); his sisters, Jane McBride and Gaye Christy (Gary Christy); as well as many extended family members.

He asked to have his body donated to Science Care in Folcroft, Pa., for research.
