Grass Roots Rescue event to benefit Canines Assisting Service Heroes Sept. 7

August 20, 2019

Planning is underway for Grass Roots Rescue’s 3rd Annual 4 Paws Got Your 6 benefit to be held from 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at American Legion Post 28 in Long Neck.

The rescue is partnering with Kent County Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America and its Canines Assisting Service Heroes program.

The event focus is on veterans dealing with PTSD and the impact animals can have on their lives. Veterans, advocates and others will be sharing their experiences and knowledge in an effort to help Grass Roots Rescue raise money for this worthwhile cause.

Local musicians at 4 Paws Got Your 6 will include Mike Garvilla, Judy Sings the Blues, Hope for Success and Deviation by Design.

Local favorite Truck It food truck and Crenshaw Cooks will be offering food for sale as well. There will also be vendors with a wide variety of goods. Other organizations participating in the event include Reidel K9, Delaware Helping Warriors Outdoors, Veterans United Outreach and Home of the Brave.

There will be many auction and raffle items available to those in attendance. Many of the items will be previewed on Grass Roots Rescue’s Facebook page.

Grass Roots Rescue is a Delaware-based, all-volunteer, nonprofit group that saves dogs and other animals that are at risk in shelters and within the community. Its primary objective is to increase the quality of life for all animals through rescue, outreach and education. Grass Roots is solely a foster-based rescue that relies on the generous donations of local community members to continue its purpose of saving as many animals as possible.
