Great Pumpkin Run 5K showcases 131 runners

Colten Morris and Becca Johnson are overall winners

The inaugural Great Pumpkin Run 5K held Halloween morning at Cape Henlopen State Park attracted 131 mostly costumed runners. There were 25 runners under the age of 20, and 20 runners over the age of 60 just to create a sense of balance.

Colten Morris, 18, of Lewes was the overall winner in 17:25. Becca Johnson, 26, of Lewes was overall women's winner in 20:31.

Mike Sewell, 51, was the male masters champion with a time of 19:59, while Jackie Quigley, 53, was the female masters winner in 25:01.  

The male 9-and-under category was stacked, led by Nolan Furlong, 7, in 23:46; Kai Mundok, 8, in 24:14; Grant Sherman, 8, in 25:27; and Finley Sherman, 8, in 26:32. 

The female 9-and-under champion was Ainsley Fitzgerald, 8, in 30:55. She was followed by Caroline Feist, 7, in 31:51 and Nora Furlong, 5, in 34:59.

The male 10-13 was won by Riley Stazzone, 12, in 23:27. He was followed by Stephen Hart, 13, in 24:29.  

The female 10-13 was won by Claire Denham, 10, of Georgetown in 26:37. Allison Ortiz and Shiloh O’Grady were second and third in 28:06.

The Oliphant twins from Laurel swept the top two spots in the 20-29 category, with Kelsey winning in 22:41 and Alexis chasing her in 22:49. The male 20-29 winner was Guillermo Montalvo, 28, of Milton in 33:41.

Stephanie Sherman, 42, of Lewes won the 40-49 female group in 26:38.

Paul Timmons, 51, of Rehoboth Beach won the 50-59 age group in 21:47. He was followed by Matt Mundok, 51, in 24:31.

Karen Dawson, 59, of Rehoboth Beach won the 50-59 age group in 24:51, with Maureen Pinkerton, 52, finishing second in 25:04 and Elaine Dernoga, 51, crossing third in 27:19. 

Cecily Fisher, 60, of Lewes won the 60-69 age group in 27:24. She was followed by Katherine Holt of Millsboro, 46, in 27:49.

Paul Kiefer, 80, won the 80-and-over category in 45:18. Magic Jack Noel, 82, followed him across the finish line in 47:29.
