Grotto event for Changing Fates Equine Rescue set Oct. 5

September 16, 2019

A fundraiser for Changing Fates Equine Rescue in Laurel will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Grotto Pizza on Sussex Highway, Route 13, Seaford. Proceeds will help pay for feed, hay, veterinary care, and of course, rescuing horses.

Supporters must present a printed coupon to their server for a portion of the proceeds to be donated to Changing Fates, an all-volunteer rescue. To print a coupon to bring to the fundraiser, go to www.changingfatesrescue.org.

Taken in as a foal, Nicholas was one of several horses rescued from an extreme abuse situation on a Hebron, Md. farm. At first unable to stand, Nicholas is growing, maturing and overcoming his horrible start in life. Even with Changing Fates volunteers keeping plentiful clean water available, Nicholas and some of the other Hebron horses continue digging holes in search of water as they had learned to do when deprived of access to basic needs.

Changing Fates received a matching grant from the Longwood Foundation to build a barn for these horses that needed immediate shelter. Now the rescue is working to match those funds with donations from the public and fundraisers such as the one set Oct. 5.
