Hanwell does what’s best for Cape kids

May 6, 2021

I have known Dr. Janis Hanwell in a professional and then personal capacity for more than 25 years. I have always considered her to be an outstanding leader; one who leads by example, a good listener, and someone who truly cares about all kids getting the best education possible by providing them the resources and support necessary to meet their individual needs. When we worked together, I learned strategies from her for working with students with special needs, and she taught me to know when to listen and not engage in order to quickly defuse some tough situations with students.

As a school board member these last five years, I’ve seen her make some very tough decisions by listening to the community and staff, and asking the right questions of administration and other board members. While over the years, I may not have agreed with all of her decisions, I know that she continues to consider all sides of a situation before voting for what she thinks is best, and I give her the same respect that she has always given me.

Vote for Janis Hanwell; she will always do what’s best for all kids.
