Harry K Foundation 5K at Greene Turtle raises funds for food bank

The 11th annual Harry K Foundation 5K at the Greene Turtle in Lewes Aug. 4 attracted 195 runners.

The overall winner was 21-year-old Brittany Lang, a University of Maryland runner out of Columbia, Md., with a time of 18:09. 

Phil Rogers, 39, of Ellicott City, Md., was the second overall and first male finisher in 18:25. 

Matt Sparacino, 41, of Harrington was the male masters champion in 19:35, while Laura Berger, 44, of Landenberg, Pa., won female masters in 21:59. 

The top 5 female finishers were Lang, Julie Hamilton in 21:37, Laura Berger in 21:59, Uri Landis in 25:43 and Nina Smeltzer in 26:07.

The top 5 male finishers were Rodgers, Mike Marciano in 18:44, Matt Andrade in 19:14, Matt Sparacino in 19:35 and Eric Albright in 19:37. 

There was a Kiddie K for children 8 and under before the 5K race.

The Harry K Foundation mission is to defeat childhood hunger in Delaware one child at a time. 

The second annual Miss Utility of Delmarva 811 5K, 1-mile fun walk and Kiddie K is Sunday, Aug. 11, at 8 a.m., at Mispillion River Brewing Company in Milford.
