Hazel Carey Zimmerman, nursing assistant
Hazel Carey Zimmerman, 101, of Millsboro, formerly of Milton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018.
She was born in Milford May 8, 1917, daughter of the late John C. Mitchell and the late Emma (Joseph) Mitchell. Hazel worked for several years as a nursing assistant at Beebe Healthcare and also worked at the ferry terminal in Lewes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Vernon Carey and Howard Zimmerman; two sons, Ronald and Robert Carey; and her five siblings. Hazel is survived by a brother, John Mitchell of Harrington; a sister, Gladys Austin of Milford; a daughter-in-law, Joan Carey of Lewes; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, at White’s Chapel Cemetery, 15357 Coastal Hwy., Milton.
