Helen F. Quillen, worked in poultry industry

Helen F. Quillen, 105, of Frankford passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro.

Helen was born in Laurel Nov. 12, 1913, daughter of the late Edgar O’Neal and the late Laura (Waller) O’Neal.  She worked in the poultry industry for over 40 years before her retirement.

Helen was a hard worker and loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed making afghans and creating beautiful quilts for her family.  She will also be remembered for her delicious cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lester W. Franklin in 1966 and Eldon Quillen in 1992; her 10 siblings, Granville O’Neal, Norman O’Neal, David O’Neal, Linwood O’Neal, Preston O’Neal, Joseph O’Neal, Olan O’Neal, Margaret Callaway, Alice O’Neal and Ethel Elliott; a grandson, Douglas Hamlon; and two sons-in-law, Joseph Komlo and Clifford Hamlon.  She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Komlo of Frankford and Nellie Hamlon of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Cheryl Schwartz and Brian Komlo; and four great-grandchildren, William Schwartz Jr., Stephanie Schwartz, Kayle Komlo and Katie Komlo.  

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, Nov. 11, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends and family may call after 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Roxana Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Helen’s name to the American Heart Association.
