Hundreds of town residents and visitors gather for holiday fun

Many Henlopen Acres residents and visitors began their July 4th holiday by participating in the community’s 12th annual Henlopen Acres Independence Day Parade.
Despite the unusually hot temperatures for 9 a.m., hundreds of participants gathered at the town marina next to the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. When the call went out for the parade to begin, a lot of the kids took off on bikes like it was a race, while most others pedaled or walked the one-mile loop slowly.
Following the parade, there were games and free shaved ice from Kona Ice to help everyone cool down.
