Henlopen Conference boys’ swimmers advance to state finals

The boys’ team swimmers of the Henlopen Conference showed their stuff Feb. 26 at the DIAA Swimming Preliminaries at the University of Delaware. The finals and consolation finals begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 29.
“It’s great to see the Sussex County kids support each other at this meet regardless of which high school they attend,” said Sussex Academy head coach Tom Martiner. “A real testament to the quality folks we have in the conference.”

Cape junior Thomas Weeks swims the 500. He finished with a time of 5:05.59, putting him in the consolation finals.

Sussex Tech’s Connor Seeley swims the breaststroke leg of the medley relay. The Tech relay swam a time of 1:57.34.
Delmarva Christian’s Josh Desiderio swims the breaststroke leg of the medley relay. The Royals relay finished with a time of 2:16.99.
Sussex Tech’s Gage Lunn swims the fly leg of the medley relay. The team swam a time of 1:57.34.
Thomas Weeks leaves the blocks in the medley relay. The Cape squad swam a time of 1:50.18 and will be in the consolation final.

Sussex Central’s Jordan Pritchett swims to a time of 1:00.06 in the 100 fly.
Sussex Academy’s Dylan Steinwedel swims the 100 backstroke. He finished with a time of 1:03.86.
Sussex Academy’s Trey Mitchell swims the 100 fly and finishes with a time of 54.82 to qualify for the consolation final.
Sussex Academy’s Jake Mundok swims to a time of 53.24 in the 100 freestyle.
Cape’s Marcus Gromofsky swims the anchor leg of the 200 freestyle relay. Cape finished with a time of 1:36.70.
