H.O. Brittingham students host lemonade fundraiser

June 27, 2019

A group of fifth-grade students from H.O. Brittingham Elementary School in Milton hosted an “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” fundraiser to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

The students set up shop in front of the Lydia B. Cannon Museum on Union Street and passed out lemonade. The drinks were free, but those that came by were encouraged to make a donation, although some passing motorists passed on the lemonade and just made a donation.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a national, non-profit organization named after Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was diagnosed with cancer when she was a year old. When she was four, Alex set up a lemonade stand to help raise money for doctors to find a cure.

Alex died in 2004 at the age of eight. Since then, the foundation allows children to plan and set up a stand.

The H.O. Brittingham students raised $640 during their fundraiser.

Taking part in the Milton stand are (l-r) Ellison Rohls, Julia Burrell, Simone Spoor, Miranda Schmidt, Gabby Majjul, Vito Razze, Brianna Burrell, Melissa Razze, Alex Razze and (front, l-r) Gianna Razze, Rowan Davidson, Dilyla Rohls and Carmelita Razze.
