Holiday schedule heats up at Milton Theatre

While it might look like the year is winding down, the Milton Theatre is just getting started, with more than 60 shows scheduled for the final few months of 2018. With matinees, kids’ events, music, comedy and more, there is something planned for everyone.

Some of the best comedy shows are scheduled in November and December. The return of “Sister’s Christmas Catechism” will kick things off at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23. Tickets always sell out for this show, so buying early is encouraged.

The return of “Assisted Living The Musical: The Home for the Holidays”  is set for two shows, Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1. WIth all the same characters and the original cast, this show is sure to be another hit!

Twin comedians will ring in the season with “The Rescignos Holiday Show,” at 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9.

The hilarious “Magnolia Applebottom’s Holiday Drag Extravaganza” is set for 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14.

Last, but certainly not least, Scott Mason will return as Dame Edna for “One Dame Christmahanukwanzaka” at 2 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21.

The Funsters Dance Party promises a show filled with great moves and good times at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17. The Celtic Christmas show performed by local musical group Fellow Travelers will be at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25.

The Cartoon Christmas Trio will perform favorite jazz Christmas tunes at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2.

The American Rogues will perform their unique holiday show featuring instruments not often seen on stage at 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6.

“Bluegrass Nutcracker” is set for 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, when this unique performance takes a brand-new look at classic Christmas tunes with banjos, fiddles and more.

The Fred Hughes Trio: I’ll Be Home for Christmas show will begin at 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13.

The Streisand & Sinatra Holiday Show will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, and 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16.

A special matinee of the Capital Ringers Holiday Handbell Show is set for 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15. These performers showcase their incredible talent as they perform all the favorite holiday songs using handbells, percussion and plenty of humor.

“The Rising,” a Trans-Siberian Orchestra holiday musical tribute, is set for 3 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22.

Paul Cullen will return at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 28, with his holiday special featuring music, wine and antipasti. He’ll be joined by Lower Case Blues. Local jazz band 5th Avenue will play at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29.

Revival House Theater screenings feature favorite movies with an interactive twist, when attendees can dress up and sing along to these shows for fans of all ages. “The Greatest Showman” will be screened at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, and “The Polar Express” is set for 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will start at 9 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30, with all the traditional Rocky Horror necessities including a live shadow cast.

The Milton Theatre Art House Film Series will celebrate some of the very best award-winning films that people may not have heard of! This is the chance for film lovers to appreciate these great works in a physical space where cinema truly comes alive! Catch “Sorry To Bother You” at 7  p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8.

Deanna Fitzpatrick will return for another psychic performance as she connects the living to their people in spirit at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7.

The Peek-a-Boo Revue for lovers of art and burlesque dance will be at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8.

Three Trick Trio magic shows are scheduled for 10 a.m. (school show), and 1 and 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16. This one-of-a-kind magic show features three amazing magicians for trick-lovers of all ages.

A holiday tea set for  2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16 will give kids the chance to have tea and cookies with their favorite characters like the Grinch, Elsa, Mickey Mouse and more at this interactive show. Yes, tea really will be served.

The final event of the year will be a send-off fit for a memorable year at the annual early New Year’s Eve celebration, Monday, Dec. 31. Cocktails will be served from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by a concert featuring music by Kathie Martin and the Hot Rods, and dancing from 8 to 10 p.m. A traditional toast will conclude the night at 10 p.m., making this a perfect event for those who wish to be home early on New Year’s Eve.
