Home slips off trailer on Route 24

March 22, 2019

A manufactured home slipped off the trailer that was hauling it about 1:06 p.m. March 21 on Route 24 near Warwick Road, according to Delaware State Police.

State police Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said a 61-year-old Selbyville man was driving a 1998 International 910 truck tractor hauling a semi-trailer loaded with the manufactured home when the tires fell off the trailer, causing the mobile home to strike power lines. Jaffe said the driver of the truck was issued a traffic ticket for failure to maintain lane and driving an unsafe motor vehicle.  Because of the downed wires, Route 24 was closed for about two hours.

Crews were on the scene March 22 dismantling the house and removing it from the roadway.
