Home struck by lightning, tornado spotted in July 29 storm

A house in Angola was struck by lightning and a tornado was spotted near Bethany Beach July 29 as an afternoon storm passed through the area.

Rehoboth  Beach firefighters responded at 3:11 p.m. to a fire at a home in Middle Creek Preserve, Angola, which had been struck by lightning. The fire was contained in the attic. Rehoboth Beach firefighters were assisted by Lewes Fire Department, Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. and Sussex County EMS.

At about the same time, a tornado and waterspout was spotted north of Bethany Beach near Route 1.
