Hope sea change in Lewes provides results

So much for incumbents. Within 10 months, four new council members will serve the wonderful town of Lewes.

They have replaced members who have dedicated an enormous amount of time and energy to this town. All who serve, whether on council or committees, should be applauded, but it is indeed time for a new change.

My hope is that they fervently read the comprehensive plan and building code and equitably enforce what is stated. The “Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason proclaims, “Do not take advice on finance from a bricklayer.” Go to people who are experts in a particular subject if you want expert advice. It’s easy for amateurs to give out advice. Our governance should know that they serve the people...all of the people. Their temerity must never lose sight of this dedication.

Lincoln’s two-minute speech at Gettysburg captured the mandate we as citizens entrust our elected officials and their appointed committees...”That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” This great town of Lewes deserves no less. I pray this this sea change in council will govern with increased vigor dedicated to transparency, accountability, and integrity. I believe they will, and I hope if confronted with vexing issues, they reach out to the talented members of this community who will ably assist.
