December 5, 2019

The 10th annual Huffin’ for Pumpkin Pie 5K and 1-Mile Walk Nov. 30 attracted 338 runners to Grove Park. The share-the-space race began at 9 a.m., and by 10 a.m., the farmers market canopy and trailer crew was setting up.

The race was won by Will Rehrig, 26, in 16:06 followed by Joey Hawley, who broke up the Rehrig brothers’ potential sweep with a time of 17:10 just ahead of Rob Rehrig, 30, in 17:41. Bobby Rehrig, 58, ran 24:27, while Kittie Rehrig, 58, posted a time of 31:40.

There are lots of family connections over Thanksgiving day races. Madison Todd, 13, of Camden Wyoming, was the overall women’s winner in 21:29. Her younger sister Makenzie, 10, ran 26:45. Tammy Todd, the 43-year-old mom, won her age group in 26:20. Ben Todd, 42, won his age group in 21:14.

Sadie Tunnell, 16, ran 24:36, while her younger sister Sage, 13, ran 28:51.

The Oliphant twins of Laurel, Kelsey and Alexis, who double as triplets, roared across the finish line together in 21:57.

Rolando Welch, 47, (23:51) and Kristen Welch, 47, (24:20) crossed almost together.

Brandon Wooldridge, 11, (24:58) and Rob Wooldridge, 41, (24:59) crossed in a not-today-dad statement.

Kent Husted, 48, and Audrey Husted, 15, shared the chute in 25:25.

Blake Huffman, 15, and Wayne Huffman, 54, crossed the line in 25:43 and 25:47, respectfully.

A data analysis of the 338 finishers will find that most runners in a Thanksgiving weekend race are related to another runner in the same race. A complete list of expanded results can be found at www.seashorestriders.com
