The Lewes Public Library, Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild and Browseabout Books will welcome author John Kenney for a conversation about his novel, “I See You’ve Called in Dead,” at 5 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and online via Zoom. 

In Kenney’s sharp, darkly comedic story, obituary writer Bud Stanley has fallen into a funk after a divorce. He's not doing his job well, he's given up on dating, and he's about to be fired for accidentally publishing his own obituary one mildly drunken night. As Bud awaits his fate at work, he does the only logical thing: He goes to the wakes and funerals of total strangers to learn how to live again.

Kenney will be in conversation with Maribeth Fischer, an author of three novels, and founder and executive director of the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild.
