Race benefits Lewes Fire Department
June 14, 2018

A humid June 10 morning greeted 149 runners for the fourth annual Stop, Drop and Run 5K in Lewes. The good news was a free ice cream cone from 2 Dips was waiting for them at the finish line.

The race stepped off from the Lewes Fire Department on Savannah Road and zig-zagged its way through Lewes’ historic district and out toward New Road.

The event benefits the Lewes Fire Department, and firefighters Aidan Gause and Trevor Feist run the full 3.1 miles in full gear, adding about 150 pounds to their weight.

Taking the top spot on the leaderboard was Francisco Puac in a time of 18:15. He finished more than a minute ahead of runner-up and masters winner Chris Stanley in 19:39. Rounding out the top 5 are Patrick Guthrie in 20:01, Trevor Wright in 20:26 and Daniel Lorde in 20:52.

Lindsay Wright of Alexandria, Va., was sixth overall and the top female finisher with a time of 21:50. Following her to the finish line were masters winner Mardiny Ung in 22:42, Jackie Quigley in 23:40, 11-year-old Hannah Maney in 24:17 and Katie Gerber in 24:24.
