Irish Eyes auction supports Boys & Girls Club fundraiser

June 26, 2019

Irish Eyes Pub hosted its sixth annual auction for the Irish Eyes Open June 12 benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware.

The June 12 event in Lewes was well attended, with participants lining the stairs to get in. The upstairs private dining room, donated by Irish Eyes, offered a great sunset on the canal.

Officials said the Boys & Girls Club serves more than 7,000 children and teens across 10 sites throughout Sussex County, and about $91,000 in scholarships has already been awarded to Sussex kids and families in need. That amount is nothing compared to what has been raised in total by the Irish Eyes Open, with more than $590,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware.

Club President Eric Kaufman said about 3,200 kids are supported every day.

As part of the event, more than 10 people donated $1,000 each to send kids to camp during the summer, followed by a live auction with Richard “Dickie” Bryant.
