James A. Powell, charter boat captain

Mr. James A. Powell, 72, of Millsboro, and formerly of Newark, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018.  Mr. Powell was born in Wilmington to the late John E. Powell and Caroline DiGiacomo Powell-Arcaro.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters Jane and Margaret, as well as his stepfather, Anthony Arcaro.

Jim retired from Boeing where he worked as a fabricator. He enjoyed fishing, had his captain’s license and ran his own charters. He enjoyed spending time with his closest family and friends, especially his daughter and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Powell of Millsboro; daughter Jennifer Catts of Newark; brothers Vince DiGiacomo and his wife Barbara of Wilmington, and Robert Decker of Lewes; as well as two grandchildren whom he adored, Jacob and Aubrey Catts. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 29, from noon to 4 p.m. at Lums Pond State Park (picnic area 4).
