Jennifer Lynn Mayer, beautiful soul

May 27, 2022

Jennifer Lynn Mayer, of Lewes and Corning, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home in July 2020 at the age of 53. Jen was our angel on earth, and lived a beautiful life where she loved to make people smile. She attended the CHEER Center and Easter Seals in Georgetown, as well as volunteered at All Saints Academy while she lived in New York. Jen loved listening to others and gave the best hugs. Her favorite activities were dancing, watching WWE wrestling and NCIS, swimming, taking trips, cheating at putt-putt, doing puzzles and word searches, making gifts for others, going to church and spending time with her family. There was never a person that Jen didn’t love; her heart was overfilled with kindness, and she was able to touch so many lives with her beautiful soul.

Jen is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Ritter-Soots; father, Roy Soots; biological mother, Elisabeth Callahan Scott; and brother, Arthur (Bart) Paul Mayer III. Jen’s biological father, Arthur Paul Mayer, also now joins her in heaven.

Jen is survived by her siblings, Tamara (and Shea) Parker of Washington, D.C.; Debby (and Russ) Woglom of Corning, N.Y.; Conny Mayer of Takoma Park, Md., and John Michael Mayer of Newark. She was the beloved aunt to Roy, Raymond and Roann Parker, Saleiha and Conlan Mayer-Marks, Calley (Salem) and Brendan Mayer, Lauren (Jonathan) Spaulding, Caitlin (Julio) Martinez, Kelsey (Michael Bonin), Kara and Michael Woglom, Kathryn (Justin) Draper, and Kirsten and Megan Mayer.

She also loved her aunt, Bonnie Ritter of Milton; her cousin, Carla (and Rob) Schirmer of Ellendale; her uncle, Sonny Carl Ritter Jr. of Milton; as well as her great-nephew and -nieces, Michael and Charlotte Spaulding, and Jordyn and Jacklyn Draper.

Jenny is missed tremendously by all who loved her. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton, to celebrate her life and the beauty she brought to the world (delayed from 2020 due to COVID-19). If attending, plan to wear your brightest colors to rejoice in the joy and love Jen brought to the world!
