Jerry Andrew Mullins, bank vice president

Jerry Andrew Mullins, 71, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newport News, Va., he was the son of the late Lewis Carson Mullins and Lena Jane Clifton Mullins Kersey.

Jerry had proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Wilmington Trust Company. During his lifetime, he enjoyed boating, fishing, racing cars, and golfing. He also enjoyed playing tennis and riding motorcycles. Because of his love of tennis and riding motorcycles, he became an instructor of the game of tennis, and was an instructor with the Delaware Motorcycle Safety Program. He will also be remembered for communicating on his Ham radio with his special call name "KB3TXP."

He is survived by his loving wife Cindy Gordy Mullins of Georgetown; his daughters, Tricia Whaley Dorofee and her husband J.D., and their son Josh Dorofee, and Charity Whaley Swain and her daughter Emmalyn Swain; a brother, Timothy E. Mullins and his wife Helene; a brother-in-law, Phil Gordy, and sister-in-law, Peggy Williams, and Judy Goff and her husband Steve. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Mullins.

A Celebration of Life was held Thursday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m., at the CHEER Community Center, Georgetown. Burial was held privately in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Mullin's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home of Laurel.
