Jewel A. Meyers Levering, longtime, accomplished Realtor

Jewel A. Meyers Levering, 96, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022.

She was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Wilmington. Jewel graduated from Wilmington High School in 1944 and attended Beacon College.

Shortly after the death of her husband, she started Jewel A. Levering Construction Company and built custom homes. In 1986, Betty Mann Beebe invited Jewel to join her newly founded real estate office, Mann & Moore Associates, now known as Mann and Sons Inc. The Sussex County Association of Realtors honored Jewel for being in the real estate business as the longest-serving Realtor in Sussex County; she was the oldest, active Realtor in the State of Delaware.

Jewel loved her church, Lewes Presbyterian Church, and its congregation, where she felt at peace and loved. She also had a great love for her sorority sisters of the Xi Sigma Chapter of Lewes and Beta Sigma Phi, her aqua-size buddies at the YMCA, and last but not least, her family, her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jewel was predeceased by her late husband, Francis A. Levering Jr.; her parents, Julius H. Myers and Margaret E. Tazewell Myers; daughter, Margo E. Levering Green; and granddaughter, Chelsea Levering.

Jewel is survived by three sons, Wayne F. Levering (Sherry) of Gates Mills, Ohio, Bradford T. Levering (Pat) of Millsboro, and Glenn A. Levering of Millsboro; son-in-law, Alfred Green Jr., of Elkton, Md.; nine grandchildren, Ashley McCracken, Stephanie Green, Melissa Levering, Charity Perry, Courtney Levering, Bradford Levering II, Kelsey Levering Piotti, Glenn J. Callahan and Jacob A. Levering; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Hwy. Lewes. Interment will be private.
