Jimmie Allen performs to sellout crowd in Harrington

February 14, 2019

Local country music rising star Jimmie Allen performed to a sell out crowd at Harrington Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall Feb. 9, bringing his “Slower Lower” style to the area he grew up in.

Allen got the crowd standing with his hits Blue Jean Baby, 21, Wait for It, Underdogs, Boy Gets a Truck, Back of Your Mind, All Tractors Ain’t Green and Warrior that he wrote for his mother and late grandmother. The crowd joined in singing all of his songs, but he had the crowd sing a whole chorus of his number one hit “Best Shot” as he honored his father by saying “Dad, this is what you help me do.” His father James helped nurture his love for country music. He also presented his father with a commemorative display for his number one hit “Best Shot,” which stayed three weeks as Billboard’s No. 1 hit.

During the concert Allen also paid tribute to his HO Brittingham Elementary School kindergarten teacher Mary Beth Alexander Adair whom he spoke about from the stage as inspiring him.

“The concert was so energized,” said Alexander Adair. “There were so many fans here to support Jimmie. He is a natural on stage, and always gives off positive thoughts for everyone to pursue their dreams.”

Allen moved to Nashville in 2007 where he worked many jobs while living in his car working toward his dream of having a career in country music. He signed his first record deal 10 years later.

Allen has opened for country music stars such as Toby Keith and Scotty McCreery which he just concluded touring. He will be touring soon with Kane Brown and Chris Jansen and this summer with Rascal Flatts. He has made numerous appearances at the Grand Ole Opry and The Steve Harvey Show, and has acted as co-host numerous times on The Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee.

His album Mercury Lane is available now on Broken Bow Records.
