Joan M. Cox, 79, of Milton, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Clarence and Martha Orr.

Mrs. Cox graduated from Springfield High School in Morton Springfield, Pa. She made her career as an administrative assistant, working for many years for West Chester High School before moving to Delaware. She then worked for 19 years at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach. Mrs. Cox was an avid Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State fan. Most of all, Mrs. Cox enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, David E. Cox of Milton; two sons: James Grace of Pennsylvania and John Grace of Georgetown; one daughter, Linda Shinn of Georgetown; seven grandchildren: Genny Willis and her husband Michael, Emily Nock, Joanie Shinn, Matthew Grace, Mark Grace and his wife Kacie, Samantha Grace, and Amanda Gabbard and her husband Justin; nine great-grandchildren: Riley, Tessa, Hazel, Marlee, Luke, Mackenzee, Maddee, Mia, and Maycee; and her sister, Carol Painter.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
