Joe Baione Trio to perform July 7 at Cuvée Ray in Rehoboth

July 4, 2019

As part of its free ongoing Sunday jazz series, Cuvée Ray Wine Bar & Restaurant will host the Joe Baione Jazz Trio from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at 236 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

Musical excitement, tradition and technique underscore any performance by internationally acclaimed, award-wining vibraphonist Joe Baione. He continues the musical legacy of such legendary jazz musicians as Lionel Hampton and Milt Jackson, and expands his musical voice as both a truly creative instrumental virtuoso and an increasingly compelling composer.

Though the vibraphone resembles a xylophone, it is primarily used in jazz music; it has a distinctive vibrato sound. Baione’s storytelling vibraphone performances create a truly memorable experience for live music lovers of all kinds.

Baione is joined by New York/New Jersey-based organist Dan Kostelnik, a Downbeat Rising Star who brings a mastery over the traditional organ idiom combined with the ability to handle modern, harmonically complex structures.

Rounding out the group is Pape Demba “Paco” Samb on djembe and congas. He is from Dakar, Senegal, Africa, and performs internationally with groups such as Kulu Mele and many others. He has an excitement and passion which is infectious to the listening audience.
