Joe Terrone to lead drawing workshop at Milton Arts Guild Nov. 14, 16

September 29, 2018

Milton Arts Guild, 310 Walnut St., Milton, will offer a Foundations of Drawing workshop with Joe Terrone from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Geared to all those who want to learn to draw, this workshop concentrates on strong foundations through teaching the basics while expanding knowledge participants already possess. Many artists were thrown into their creative lives without the drawing skills needed to make strong images, and this class will provide that solid footing.

Students will concentrate on seeing, and transferring images to paper using positive and negative space, sighting, measuring and value judgment. They will explore  line and form through contour drawing and shading, and create strong compositions with thumbnail sketches. They will work on leading the eye, balance and focal points, plus enhancing drawings using edges, contrast and atmospheric perspective.

Joe Terrone is a professional Delaware-based artist. A graduate of Pratt Institute with a master of fine arts in painting, Terrone earned New Jersey state certification as an art instructor. His plein air paintings are collected throughout the country. He has developed a way to blend realism and abstraction into his landscape paintings, giving them a unique energy. Terrone finds a way to increase students’ abilities to enjoy and achieve skill in their drawings and artwork.

Cost is $120 for MAG members and $150 for nonmembers. To register and pay via PayPal, go to www.miltonartsguild.org, or contact Lynda Rae Gannon at lyndaraeg@gmail.com.
