John K. Darr, financial executive
John K. Darr, 74, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2019.
He is survived by his wife Linda; and sons Joshua (Mary Beth) and Christopher (Erin). Five granddaughters, Allison, Annabelle, Emma, Abigail and Caroline, also survive John. He leaves brothers William (Donna) and Thomas (Jonelle). John is also survived by his mother-in-law Peg Allison and father-in-law David (Debbie) Allison.
Born and raised in Indiana, Pa., John graduated from Lafayette College where he was president of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and he also attended the Harvard AMP program. He served on the Navy’s Flagship of the Seventh Fleet starting in 1967. John spent over 40 years in the finance industry and retired in 2008 as CEO/managing director of the Federal Home Loan Bank Office of Finance, the second-largest issuer of debt in the world after the U.S. Treasury. He served on the boards of Manna Inc., SEI, FHLB Pittsburgh, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth and West Rehoboth Land Trust. An avid golf player, John was a member of Kings Creek Country Club.
He deeply valued his friendships and took joy in being an advisor to many people and organizations. Most important to John was his family; he will be remembered as a loving husband, dedicated father, and an immensely proud grandfather.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 15, at 1 p.m., at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at noon. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
