John L. Kane, church trustee

On Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, John L. Kane of Harbeson, loving husband and father, went to be with our Lord at the age of 79 years.   

John worked for Pepsi in Maryland for 35 years moving to Harbeson upon retirement.   He volunteered for Sussex County Habitat for Humanity for 10 years, helping to build over a dozen homes.  He sang in the Harbeson United Methodist Church choir and served as a church trustee. Throughout his retirement he was an active Ruritan Club member, first with the Henlopen Club and then with the Sussex Central Ruritan Club. He also served on the Harbeson Cemetery Board as treasurer for the last 10 years.  John liked to travel, was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking, making various pieces of furniture and decorative items.

John was predeceased by his parents, Phillip W. and Dorothy L. Kane; brother, Phillip Kane, and sister-in-law, Evelyn.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; children Pamela, Michael (Thomas Frost) and Teresa Reed (Terry). John will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, extended family and dear friends.

A Memorial Service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
