John A. Roslan Jr., worked in IT Department
John A. Roslan Jr., 54, of North East, Md., passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, surrounded by his family after a brave battle with colon cancer.
John was born in Wilmington and attended A.I. DuPont High School as well as University of Delaware where he studied computer science. He went on to enjoy a career at Delmarva Power working in the IT Department.
John was a loving father and could always be overheard proudly proclaiming his children’s many accomplishments. He had a witty sense of humor, and could bring laughter to even the most somber occasions. He was a self-taught musician and enjoyed playing guitar at his church services. Just like his father, John was a dedicated Blue Hens fan, and loved attending University of Delaware football games and tailgating with his family. He also avidly cheered for the Baltimore Ravens every Sunday, especially for former UD alum Joe Flacco.
He loved to eat crabs as frequently as possible, and enjoyed boating and fishing in Lewes with his family. John had an affinity for numbers, cooking, knot tying, and extra-terrestrial phenomena. He loved driving around in his truck, one of the few vehicles that could accommodate his 6-foot, 4-inch frame. John enjoyed participating in various activities within the North East area, especially visiting the Turkey Point Lighthouse near his Chesapeake Isle community. John will forever be remembered for his clever personality, strong faith and big heart.
He is preceded in death by his father, John A. Roslan Sr. He is survived by his beloved mother, Joanne (Gutowski) of Lewes; loving siblings, Michael (Susan Carpenter) of Unionville, Pa., and Kimberly (Mark) Courtney of Middletown; adoring children Dylan, Maurissa, Seth and Caleb; niece and nephew, Devon and Daniel Courtney; and many cherished friends and extended family. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John’s family would like to thank the amazing Union Hospital staff for taking such wonderful care of our family during such a difficult time.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 10 until 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to The Union Hospital Foundation, Baskets of Hope, Attn: Beth Money Cancer Program at Union Hospital, 106 Bow St., Elkton, MD 21921.
